Bhubaneswar: As many as 15 places in Odisha recorded temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more with Balangir emerging as the hottest.
According to evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), as many as 5 places in the state recorded maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more on the day.
Balangir recorded highest temperature in the state with 44.9 degree Celsius, followed by Sundargarh 44, Titlagarh 43.5, Bhawanipatna 43 and Sonepur 43 degree Celsius on the day.
On Saturday, Titlagarh was the hottest place in the state recording 45.5 degree Celsius, which was the highest temperature of the season.
The IMD has forecast that maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to decrease by 2-3° Celsius at many
places in the state in next 3 days. Maximum temperature is likely to be more than 40 degree and above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir and Boudh districts during next 3 days.
The Met office has also forecast that a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around May 4. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around May 6. It is likely to become more marked during subsequent 24 hours.
