Puri: Ahead of Snana Jatra at Jagannath Temple in Puri, the Daitapati Nijog on Sunday said that 150 sevayats will remain in charge of the Pahandi (procession) of the Lords.
It is slated for June 5.
“As Daitapati is a community service, there is no question of limiting their number. All Daitapati sevayats will conduct the Pahandi of the Lords. We have submitted a list of 150 Daitapati sevayats to the temple administration of which 50 Daitapatis will conduct the Pahandi of Lord Jagannath, 50 for Lord Balabhadra, 30 for Devi Subhadra and 20 for Lord Sudarshan. The Daitapati Nijog will have a meeting in this regard later in the day,” senior Daitapati sevayat Binayak Dasmahapatra told the media here.
Referring to the COVID-19 guidelines framed by the Odisha government, he assured that the Daitapati Nijog will strictly adhere to the social distancing guidelines while performing the rituals of the Lords.
