Balasore: A major fire broke out at a grid station in Jaleswar area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday, disrupting electricity supply in more than 150 villages.
As per preliminary information, fire erupted in the transformer in the grid station located at Nuapazar in Jaleswar and the blaze spread rapidly, prompting the authorities to snap power distribution to many villages.
On being informed, fire services personnel with sophisticated equipment rushed to the site to extinguish the flame. The firefighters took quite some time to control the blaze.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, it was suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit.
Electricity supply was severely affected in over 150 villages of Jaleswar area following the fire incident. Efforts are on to restore normalcy, sources said.
