New Delhi: The country on Sunday witnessed the highest single-day spike with 1553 new COVID-19 cases, which took the affected tally to 17,265, according to the data by the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs.
The virus has so far claimed 543 lives in India.
A huge surge in corona cases was witnessed in Maharashtra, which reported 552 fresh cases, totaling 4,203, and 12 new deaths. In Delhi, the total cases crossed 2,000 mark with 45 deaths, while Gujarat experienced the doubling of the infection in three days with total 1,743 COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, Goa has become the first coronavirus-free state in the country.
