157 Men Found Among Applicants For Women-Centric Subhadra Yojana In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A total of 157 men, including transgenders, had applied under Subhadra Yojana, the fund transfer scheme of the Odisha government to uplift women, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed on Wednesday.

“During the sorting process, 157 men were found among the applicants seeking benefits under the scheme. This was revealed from the data on Aadhaar linkage to bank accounts. Spellings of some of those names were similar to that of women. They might have applied by mistake. Those applications have been rejected,” she told reporters.

The Deputy CM, who also holds the Women and Child Welfare portfolio, also appealed to eligible women living and working outside the state to apply for Subhadra Yojana to receive the benefits during disbursement of fourth phase of the first instalment of the Rs 5,000.

“The review in districts revealed that several eligible women, residing outside Odisha, are yet to enrol under the scheme. We will ensure that these women get financial assistance under the scheme. I urge them to apply soon,” Parida said.

The scheme was launched on September 17, 2024, after formation of BJP government in Odisha and will be implemented within 2024-25 and 2028-29 financial years. The first instalment of Rs 5,000 has already been provided to over 80 lakh women in three phases. The funds are directly credited to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
