Puri: Gopinath Hospital in Puri district’s Satyavadi block was sealed for reported violation of COVID-19 norms.
The action against the hospital on Friday followed a raid by a four-member team led by the Public Health Department’s District Superintendent in-charge, Dr Birja Shankar Rath.
According to reports, a 27-year-old man from Thanathan near Pipili had undergone a surgery at the hospital without the mandatory tests.
The man had first visited a hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment of hernia. Since he had not undergone a COVID-19 test, the hospital collected his swab sample without admitting him.
The man then visited Gopinath Hospital and underwent a surgery. Later, the result of his swab test came positive for COVID-19.
Taking exception to this impropriety, Rath ordered the hospital to be sealed and also lodged a complaint at Satyavadi police station against the hospital authorities.
The health department team also ordered asked all hospital staffers to go for quarantine.
