Dhenkanal: Sixteen more students of Saikripa Plus-II Science College at Kunjakanta in Odisha’s Dhenkanal have tested positive for COVID-19.
Of 50 samples sent for test, 16 were found infected on Thursday, sources said
Kunjakanta area was earlier declared as a containment zone for 10 days from December 1 to 10 after 33 students of the residential college contracted the virus.
Dhenkanal Collector Saroj Kumar Sethy, in an order, imposed the restrictions. However, the order did not declare any buffer zone outside the containment zone.
Vehicular movement, both public and private, has been banned in the containment zone. Vehicles carrying essential items, medicines, ambulances, those ferrying health and sanitisation staff have been exempted.
Shops and businesses have been shut and residents in the zone have been asked to stay indoors.
