Mumbai: A total of 16 students of a Ghansoli-based school in Navi Mumbai tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to a local COVID Care Centre, according to news agency PTI on Saturday.
A Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) official said that the students are of Classes VIII to XI.
The Omicron cases surged to 40 in Maharashtra on Friday after eight more people tested positive for the new variant. Among the new patients, six are from Pune and one each from Mumbai and Dombivali.
A total of 25 people recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
