17 Yamunotri Pilgrims Killed As Bus Falls Into Gorge

Dehradun: At least 17 people were killed after a bus fell into a gorge near Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarakhand’s Damta on Sunday.

The bus, carrying 28 pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh’s Panna, was travelling towards Yamunotri.

Police and SDRF teams are carrying out rescue operations. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said an NDRF will also be reaching the site.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for families of those who lost their lives.

Uttarkhand CM Pushkar Dhami offered his condolences to the affected families and ordered an investigation into the accident.
