Keonjhar: At least 18 persons were injured as a private bus overturned reportedly due to brake failure on a ghat road in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Monday.
The bus, carrying around 50 passengers, was going from Keonjhar town to Rourkela through Telkoi. After the bus crossed Kanjipani ghat, its driver suspected brake failure, sources quoting some passengers said.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver continued driving and while he was turning to Kusum ghat, the bus overturned. The locals rescued the passengers from inside the overturned bus and informed the police.
A team from Telkoi police station rushed to the spot and sent the injured passengers to the local community health centre (CHC). The condition of two passengers was stated to be critical.
