18 Places Record Temperature Of 40 Degree Celsius Or More In Odisha; Boudh Hottest Place

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to reel under heatwave condition as temperature went up to 40 degree Celsius or more in as many as 18 places on Tuesday.

According to evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Boudh was the hottest in the state at 44.5 degree Celsius.

Boudh was followed by Sonepur and Angul with 43.5 degree, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Balangir (43), Sambalpur 42.5 and Phulbani 42.4 degree Celsius.

The IMD has issued yellow warning for different districts in the state for next 5 days, forecasting thunderstorm with light to moderate rainfall.

It has also forecast that a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and its neighbourhood around May 4. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region around May 6 and become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours.

Issuing a warning for fishermen, the IMD said that on May 4 and 5, squally wind with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph will very likely prevail over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal.
