18-Year-Old Youth Drowns In Ib River In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A tragic incident occurred at Ghoghar in Balisankara block of Odisha’s Sundargarh district where a teenager drowned in Ib river on Sunday.

The youth identified as Swatik had come with his family and friends for a feast to Ghoghar today from Darlipali, sources said.

The mishap took place when Swatik was taking a bath with his friends in the river today afternoon. According to sources, the youth could not assess the depth of water and was swept with the current.

Soon after, a team of fire department rushed to the spot and started search operation in the presence of local police.

Till last reports came in, the teenager was yet to be traced. Authorities said that the spot was vulnerable to mishaps and on most occasions, lack of alertness led to tragedies.
