Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,309 on Sunday with four more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.
According to Health Department sources, an 18-year-old boy of Keonjhar district, which reported two deaths, with no comorbidities succumbed to the deadly disease.
Here are the details of the deceased after an audit:
1. A 73 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Arthritis.
2. A 64 years old male of Kalahandi district.
3. A 81 years old male of Keonjhar district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
4. A 18 years old male of Keonjhar district.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,424 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 in the first wave last year.
There were 346 casualties due to the disease in the state in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 42 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
