Bhopal: On his first day in office, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took some major decisions.
The 58-year-old Yadav, who was sworn in as MP’s 19th CM earlier on Wednesday, ordered a ban on unregulated use of loudspeakers at religious and public places, and also banned the sale of meat in the open.
“Today we have taken several discussions during the first Cabinet meeting. We have raised the issue of meat sales in the open and have proposed to bring rules for this,” Yadav told newspersons after chairing his maiden Cabinet meet.
As per the order issued by the state secretariat, there is no restriction on regular and controlled (permissible decibel) use.
Regulated loudspeakers will be allowed to operate within prescribed decibel limits, at prescribed times only. No action will be taken if loudspeakers are being operated in accordance with the law.
It cited Supreme Court’s 2005 judgment banning use of loudspeakers between 10 pm and 6 am (except in cases of public emergencies) in public places. The October 28, 2005 verdict of the apex court stated that loudspeakers could be permitted to be used till midnight on festive occasions for 15 days a year.
