Cuttack: Police busted a unit producing duplicate tobacco of reputed brands and seized its products at Dahapatna under Baranga police limits in the district on Friday night.
Acting on reliable information, a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch and Cuttack Commissionerate Police conducted the raid on the unit and arrested Nibas Sahoo who was managing the factory.
The team also seized duplicate tobacco products weighing 2.5 quintal which were estimated at around Rs 8 lakh.
They have registered a case against the unit under Sections 379, 411, 417 and 420 of IPC and Section 20 of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (COTPA) Act, 2003. Further investigation was on, police sources said.
