Bhubaneswar: As many as 2 acre of government land in Bhubaneswar has been freed of encroachment during eviction drive by BDA.
According to a release of Bhubaneswar development Authority (BDA), the eviction of encroachers was carried out in presence of police force in Saraswati Basti in the city on Saturday.
Around 350 houses with asbestos roof of the beneficiaries of affordable housing project and 3 shops in the locality were demolished to make the 2-acre land free of encroachment.
The demolition was carried out in presence of one platoon of police force to prevent any untoward incident. Several officers and enforcement squad of the BDA were also present.
At least 125 families displaced from the Basti have been allocated houses under the affordable housing project near Utkal Hospital in Chandrasekharpur.
