It may be noted that two days prior to the alleged assault on Swain, a video of bus staff thrashing a passenger on Route 19 went viral on social media, putting CRUT in an embarrassing situation.
The incident, which reportedly took place near the Pahala bus stop in Bhubaneswar, showed a man being forcibly pushed from the bus. A female co-passenger who objected was allegedly harassed.
CRUT suspended both the bus captain and guide following the incident and said that an investigation was being conducted.
