Bhadrak: Police have arrested two persons from the district for allegedly duping some unemployed youths of around Rs 5 lakh on the plea of their recruitment in CRPF.
According to sources, the arrested persons, Karunakar Rout from Belada village and Kishan Nayak from Badhagadia village in the district, had told the youths that they had contacts at high level in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Assuring them of recruitment in the CRPF, they had taken different amounts of money from them to facilitate the process.
As the youths, who had paid around Rs 5 lakh to the fraudster duo, found that there was no progress in their appointment process and felt cheated, they demanded their money back.
Both Kaunakar and Kishan kept delaying the matter and on insistence of the duped youths, Karunakar gave a cheque to one of them. But the cheque bounced, leading the youths to filed a complaint against the duo at Bonth police station.
Acting on the complaint, police arrested Karunakar and Kishan on Sunday and forwarded them to court.
