Bhubaneswar: With the arrest of two persons, the Commissionerate Police on Saturday claimed to have cracked the mystery behind the murder of a youth in Chandaka area in Bhubaneswar.
Police said the accused, identified as Rajendra Hansda and Mohan Marandi, allegedly killed their friend Sushant Kumar Tudu by strangulating him in an inebriated condition over a trivial issue on June 11.
Both the arrested accused persons had been to Chodangagada in Chandaka along with their friend Sushant on a scooter to consume liquor on June 11. While returning, the scooter ran out of fuel midway and there was an altercation among them over some trivial issue.
However, both the accused lost their cool and they allegedly strangulated the victim to death on the way.
They concealed the body in the nearby Panchamania forest and fled the scene, according to Additional DCP Bhubaneswar, Suresh Chandra Patra.
Following a complaint lodged by the father of the deceased, police launched an investigation. While the body has been seized, both the accused have been arrested, he said.
