Bhubaneswar: Two persons were arrested by the police on Monday in connection with the sword attack on a journalist in VSS Nagar area of Bhubaneswar two days ago.
While the two are being interrogated after being apprehended by the Mancheswar police, efforts are on to nab two others in connection with the attack on the journalist on Saturday night, sources said.
Notably, the journalist, identified as Jyotiranjan Mohapatra, sustained grievous injuries in the incident that took place late on Saturday night. He was admitted to the Capital Hospital for treatment.
Narrating the incident, Mohapatra said he was proceeding towards his house on a vehicle when four persons on two bikes started to follow him. “They came closer and swung a sword at me. As I fell down, they attacked me with the sword and fled the scene,” he said.
Stating that he had never seen the attackers earlier, he said he did not have any enmity with them and has no idea as to why he was attacked.
The journalist sustained injuries on his head and hand. He was rescued and rushed to the Capital Hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.
