Balangir: Two persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly attacking a house surgeon at the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Balangir district.
The accused have been identified as Samir Badamali and Raju Sahu. The two are stated to be relatives of a patient, who was being treated by the doctor at the hospital.
The accused reportedly assaulted house surgeon Biswaranjan Sahu alleging medical negligence on Thursday, triggering protest by doctors at the institute.
The victim sustained critical injuries and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the medical college and hospital.
Healthcare service was partially affected at the hospital as house surgeons of the healthcare facility staged a cease-work protest on Friday demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
The agitating house surgeons, who staged a dharna at the medical college, demanded that the accused be booked under the NSA.
