Bhubaneswar: Two MLAs of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have been pulled up for being absent in meetings convened by the party ahead of Sunday’s Rajya Sabha elections in Odisha.

Pramila Mallik, BJD chief whip in Odisha Assembly, served showcause notices on Ba

liguda MLA Chakramani Kanhar and Jayadev MLA Naba Kishor Mallick for their absence in the meetings convened by party president Naveen Patnaik at his residence here during the last three days.

Mallik has directed the two legislators to report to the BJD supremo at Naveen Nivas by 9 pm on March 15.

Two days ago, BJD had issued a whip to its MLAs asking them to be present in Bhubaneswar from March 13 to 16 for the Rajya Sabha polls.

BJD had also instructed its MLAs to attend training sessions at Naveen’s residence in the evening hours for three days.

A total of 37 members will be elected to the Rajya Sabha on Sunday, including four from Odisha.
