Bhubaneswar: A Skill Development Coordinator (SDC) and a Block Project Manager (BPM) were apprehended by Odisha Vigilance officials on Wednesday for allegedly taking Rs 60,000 bribe from a panchayat functionary to provide job to her relative in Mayurbhanj disrtrict.
The accused were identified as SDC Pradhyukti Ranjan Bhuyan and BPM Laxman Biswal of Bisoi Block in Mayurbhanj.
The two were apprehended by Vigilance while demanding and accepting Rs 60,000/- from a functionary of a Grama Panchayat Level Federation (GPLF) for appointment of her relative as Master Book Keeper (MBK) in GPLF under Mission Shakti and Odisha Livelihood Mission Scheme under Bisoi Block, Mayurbhanj.
Accused Bhuyan received the bribe money from the complainant and handed over Rs.30,000/-to Biswal as his share. The entire bribe money of Rs.60,000/- has been recovered from the possession of both the accused, an official release said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Bhuyan and three locations of Biswal respectively from DA angle.
A case under section 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and investigation is in progress against both the accused persons.
