Bhubaneswar: Two ‘bouncers’ were arrested for allegedly abducting the manager of a dance bar in Odisha capital and demanding a monthly ransom of Rs 50,000.
The arrest was made by the personnel of Airfield Police Station in Bhubaneswar following investigation into a complaint lodged by the victim, who works as manager of a dance bar in Laxmisagar area on Cuttack-Puri road in Bhubaneswar.
The accused persons were identified as Asish Sahoo (29) alias Pinu and Aditya Baral (24). Both have criminal cases against him in the state capital. One SUV used in the alleged abduction and two mobile phones have been seized from the duo, police said.
The two had forcefully kidnapped the victim from his rented house in Sundarpada area on July 28 under threat. They took him to one isolated place near Sisupalgarh and assaulted mercilessly. They demanded ransom of Rs 50,000 per month or else intimidated him to leave the dance bar. He was injured severely and reported the matter to the police after being set free by the accused.
The police had launched a hunt for the accused persons who were absconding after committing the offence. The two were finally nabbed following information about their hideout, sources said.
