Rayagada: Two minor boys went missing after being swept away in the Vamsadhara River in Gunupur area of Odisha’s Rayagada district on Monday.
The incident took place at Chandrapur Minajhola Shiva Shrine in Gunpur sub-division in the district.
The missing boys have been identified as Ratnakar Badanayak (9) and other as Samuit Badset (10) of Srirampur village under Kotgada block of Kandhamal district.
Sources said the two visited the shrine to offer prayers on the last Monday of the holy Shravan month. As the surface of the shrine was slippery, the boys slipped and fell into the water. They were swept away by the strong current and went missing.
On being informed, the fire service personnel and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team reached the spot and launched a search operation to trace the two.
