Sundargarh: Two persons, both brothers, have alleged that they were tortured by the personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in K Balang area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

In a complaint lodged with the police, the two alleged that they were subjected to third-degree torture the RPF personnel in Sundargarh. The two have been identified as Chhotelal Ichagutu and Dumbi Ichagutu, residents of Chhidakud village. A complaint has been lodged at K Balang Police Station about the incident.

It was alleged that RPF personnel from Bimalagarh took them in connection with a theft around midnight and tortured throughout the night. Sources said both have sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at K Balang Hospital

They claimed that RPF suspected their involvement in a two-month-old theft case. In a bid to force them to admit their involvement in the crime, the RPF personnel thrashed both when they expressed their innocence, they said.

Senior RPF officials were not immediately available for comment.
