Balangir: Two children were seriously injured as an unused battery exploded in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident took place in Padil village under Patnagarh police station of the district. The two children, identified as Ranjit Dalei and Jawahar Sanad, were playing with the unused battery on the village road in the afternoon.
The battery reportedly exploded and the two children sustained serious injuries. As they cried out of paid, their family members rushed to the spot and admitted them in the sub-divisional hospital at Patnagarh.
Later, both Ranjit and Jawahar were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Balangir on the advice of the doctors.
On being informed, a team from Patnagarh police station went to Padil and started investigation. However, how a sealed and unused battery exploded has not been ascertained.
