Balasore: In a tragic incident, two cousin brothers died due to electrocution at Kapasuda village under Jaleswar police station limits of Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday.
The deceased have been been identified as Rabindra Jena and Jagannath Jena.
As per information, a high-tension power line had snapped and fallen on an agricultural field. Unaware of this, the two cousins accidentally came in touch with the wire while working in the field and were electrocuted instantly.
Locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them, but both had succumbed before any medical help could arrive.
The incident has shocked the villagers, who expressed anger and alleged that poor maintenance of power lines has led to repeated accidents in the area. They demanded immediate steps to repair and replace damaged lines to avoid further loss of lives.
Police from Jaleswar station reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem.
An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to the mishap.
