2 Cousins Die Of Electrocution In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: A woman and her cousin died of electrocution in the former’s house in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Friday.

As per reports, the deceased have been identified as Neetu Marandi, headmistress of Raighati primary school in the district and her cousin Shyamsundar Marandi, a constable in the GRP at Chakradharpur in Mayrubhanj district.

Shyamsundar had come to her sister’s house at Janindapal village under Tamka police station in Jajpur district in connection with work. On Friday morning, Neetu had gone to the backyard of her house to put some wet clothes on a wire to dry.

As she came in contact with the wire that was electrically charged, Neetu got electrocuted. While she shouted in shock, Shyamsundar went to her help. While trying to push her sister away from the wire, he also got electrocuted.

On hearing their cries, the villagers rushed to the house and rushed the brother and sister to the local hospital. But they were declared brought dead.

On being informed, police went to the village and filed a case of unnatural death. Further investigation is on.
