2 Critical After Ama Bus Hits Scooter In Odisha’s Sambalpur



Sambalpur: Two persons were critically injured after an Ama bus dashed against a scooter in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred at PC bridge under the jurisdiction of Burla police station.

According to sources, a man was riding the scooter with a woman sitting behind and they were travelling on National Highway (NH) 55 towards Burla. Suddenly, an electric variant of Ama bus hit their scooter from behind at PC

square. The scooter got dragged almost 30 feet by the Ama bus. While the woman fell to the side of the road, the scooter got stuck under one wheel of the bus before stopping, an eyewitness told a local news channel.

The bus finally halted after locals screamed but the scooter rider’s leg was severely injured. Locals rushed to rescue them and called for an ambulance. They have been admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla, where they are under critical care.

Situation turned tense in the area as irate locals pelted stones at the Ama bus, damaging its front glass. Burla police arrived at the scene after receiving information and pacified the locals.

Police have seized the scooter and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The Ama bus driver has been detained for questioning.
