Bhubaneswar: Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust organised a 2-day workshop on Volunteer Empowerment in Delivering Palliative Care: Bridging the last mile in Bhubaneswar.
President of the trust Dr Mami Parija has informed that as a part of their continuous endeavour to reach out to the patients in remote areas, the trust is collaborating with other organisations and volunteers of those areas so that they can deliver the care to the patients in need of palliative care.
To impart a holistic training covering the subject from a psycho-clinical perspective, the trust invited eminent speaker on the subject, Dr K.V.Ganapathy from Mumbai for the workshop held on Saturday and Sunday. Chief Guest, Prof Dr Bidhu Kalyan Mohanti, in his inaugural lecture, covered the history of Cancer and that of palliative care, a press release from the trust said on Sunday.
Secretary of the trust Namrata Rath conducted the event while Treasurer, Ratan Kumar Singh, offered vote of thanks to the volunteers and all the distinguished speakers. Around 45 volunteers from different parts of Odisha attended the workshop.
For enlightening the participants about palliative care, an informative session was conducted in the evening where leading Professionals from the Medical Field attended and delivered lectures on various aspects of palliative care.
