Kalahandi: Two persons died and nine were critically injured as a pick-up van, carrying jackfruits, skidded off the Ghat road and fell into gorge in Dharmagarh sub-division of Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday morning.
The tragic accident took place when the driver of the pick-up van lost control and the vehicle plunged 20 feet into a gorge on the Dhulu Ghat road under Jaiapatna police limits. The driver died on the spot, while an elderly woman succumbed during treatment.
The injured have been admitted to community health centre (CHC) in Jaipatna and district headquarters hospital at Bhawanipatna.
The deceased and injured persons belong to Kantagaon and Timanpur villages under Patraput panchayat of the district. Their identities is yet to be ascertained.
