Balasore: Two persons were detained by police for allegedly retrieving human skull from a village graveyard in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.
As per reports, the daughter of Narendra Keshi of Aruhabad village under Gopalpur police station in Soro block of the district was not keeping well for a long time. After she did not recover from the illness despite consulting the doctors, Narendra went to a tantrik.
The tantrik told Narendra that an evil spirit in his house was responsible for his daughter’s illness and told him to arrange human skull for performing puja to ward off the spirit.
Narendra came to know that a dead body was buried under a banyan tree in the village and sought the help of his friend Dasarath Mahali to get its skull. On late Saturday night, both of them went to the place, dug up the grave and brought out the skull.
Meanwhile, a villager saw them digging the grave and informed the villagers. A group of villagers rushed to the place and caught Narendra and Dasarath with the skull. They tied the duo to a tree and started beating them.
However, on being informed, a team from Gopalpur police station rushed to the village and rescued Narendra and Dasarath. The police detained the duo and started investigation after registering a case.
