Berhampur: Two persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries after being run over by a speeding pick-up van at a village in Dharakote area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.
The mishap took place at Nandighore Ambatota under the jurisdiction of Dharakote police station when the victims were purchasing from a shop, sources said.
The van coming towards Sorada at a high speed ran over them and hit the shop apparently after the driver of vehicle lost control over the wheels.
The deceased persons have been identified as Panchu Behera of Magurapali village and Sujata Sethi of Gadadamodarpali village.
The injured person is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
After getting intimation, a team from Dharakote police station rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle. Investigation into the mishap is underway and further details are awaited.
