Keonjhar/Ganjam: Two persons were killed while one was injured in separate road accidents in Odisha’s Keonjhar and Ganjam districts on Tuesday.
A cyclist was mowed down by a speeding vehicle at Jamuleibeda under Patna police limits in Keonjhar district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Iswar Mahakuda, a native of Bada Nuagaon.
According to sources, the accident took place when Iswar was on his way to some work on his bicycle and a speeding vehicle hit him from behind.
Locals found him lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
On being informed, police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.
A youth was killed and one sustained critical injuries after the motorcycle they were riding rammed into a roadside tree at Badakodanda village in Ganjam district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sanuj Sahu, a resident of Charichhak.
According to sources, the accident took place when Sanuj along with his friend were returning home after watching ‘Danda Yatra’. He lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a roadside tree.
Sanuj’s injured friend was admitted to Bhanjanagar Hospital in a critical condition.
The police have seized the body for postmortem and started investigation into the matter.
