Bhubaneswar: Naveen Patnaik, who is serving his fifth term as chief minister of Odisha, is a graduate, a report of Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released on Wednesday said.
Of the 30 CMs, one holds a doctorate degree while nine are post graduate, 4 graduate professional, 11 graduate, one diploma holder, three 12th pass and one 10th pass.
While Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has completed Class X, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has done PhD in political science from Gauhati University. Tripura CM Manik Saha is a dentist by profession and obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degree in dental surgery from Patna’s Government Dental College and King Georges’ Medical College in Lucknow.
Goa CM Pramod Sawant is an Ayurvedic medical practitioner. West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee is a postgraduate in history with BEd and LLB degrees. She earned a master’s degree in Islamic history from the University of Calcutta. She had once flaunted a bogus PhD degree from a non-existent university.
The report further said that 13 (43%) CMs have declared serious criminal cases including cases related to murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, criminal intimidation. Naveen is among the 17,.57% CM with a clean background.
