Paralakhemundi: In a major crackdown on illegal drug trade, police on Saturday arrested two persons and seized 26 kg of contraband ganja in Adava area of Odisha’s Gajapati district.
The arrest was made follo
wing intelligence inputs about the illegal transport of narcotics. The arrested accused have been identified as Vikash Kathuas and Ritu Meena, both residents of Madhya Pradesh.
Police said the two were was transporting the ganja in a car from the Nalaghat locality with the intention of supplying it in their home state.
Acting on a tip off, a team from Adava Police Station intercepted the vehicle near Nalaghat village and recovered the entire consignment from the possession of the two accused.
Investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify others involved in the drug network.
