Bhubaneswar: Two persons were arrested and brown sugar valued at over Rs 40 lakh seized from them by the police during a special operation in Forest Park area of Bhubaneswar.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Capital Police station launched a patrolling in Forest Park area of the state capital where two drug peddlers with brown sugar were looking for customers.
The police personnel raided the site and apprehended the two. Over 44.10 grams of brown sugar was seized from their possession. The market value of the contraband drug was estimated at over Rs 44 lakh.
The arrested accused persons were identified as Biswaranjan Sahoo alias Alok (26) and Trilochan Nath alias Chiyaan (24). Both are residents of Bhubaneswar and involved in several other criminal offences, police said.
