2 Engineering Students Drown In Kuakhai River Near Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Two engineering students drowned while bathing in Kuakhai river on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

As per reports, the two students, identified as Smruti Sourav Pradhan of Tamando and Satyajit Das of Rengali had gone to take bath in the river at Balianta at around 7.30 pm.

While bathing, both of them were pulled by a strong current into deep water of the river. As they started shouting for help, some locals went inside the river for their rescue. But the students had gone missing.

On being informed, Fire personnel from Balipatna went to the spot and launched a search operation. They managed to trace the body of Smruti and recovered it.

The Fire personnel could not find Satyajit but the search operation was continuing, the sources said.
