Mumbai: Two unidentified persons allegedly fired shots at Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartment, in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Sunday morning.
Police officials confirmed that the two individuals, who were on a motorbike, fired rounds at the actor’s residence at around 5 am. According to the statement, three rounds were fired outside the actor’s house, TOI reported.
Responding swiftly, the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police reached the scene to initiate an investigation into the incident.
Security was heightened outside the actor’s residence following the incident. A forensic team was also present at the scene. The forensic team was seen circling what appeared to be a bullet mark on the actor’s build wall. With the help of one of Salman’s security guards, a team member was seen climbing a ladder to mark out a hole left in the wall where a bullet hit. He was seen measuring the circled area and taking photographs.
Footage from the site saw security personnel helping the team collect evidence from the site.
As per reports, Police authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the area and the surrounding locality in efforts to identify the perpetrators. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alarming incident.
It is also unclear if the actor and his parents were in the house at the time of the shooting.
Since receiving a death threat last year from Punjab-based Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the actor has been spending his time at his Panvel residence. Last year, both Salman and his father, Salim Khan, received death threats, following which, they were granted additional security. Salman even reportedly invested in a special bullet-proof car as a security measure.
In February 2024, Salman’s Y+ security was extended to include his family, owing to continued threats.
The actor made his latest public appearance on the occasion of Eid. Dressed in a white kurta, the actor was seen making an appearance on his balcony and waving to fans, with his father by his side.
