Bhubaneswar: Two fraudsters were arrested for allegedly cheating car rental service agencies after taking nine vehicles on rent in Bhubaneswar, a police official said on Monday.
All the nine cars have been recovered from the accused persons, identified as Sushanta Kumar Sahu and R Tata Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Zone-V Gautam Kisan told reporters.
As per a complaint lodged by the owners of two car rental service agencies at Mancheswar Police Station on Sunday, the accused had taken nine vehicles from them on rent in November 2023.
However, they neither paid rent nor returned the vehicles despite repeated efforts by the agency owners. The accused kept on avoiding payment of rental charges.
Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested the duo and recovered all the nine vehicles from their possession, the ACP said.
