Jeypore: A special vigilance court in in Odisha’s Jeypore convicted two persons and sentenced them to two years imprisonment for getting recruited in OSAP 3rd Battalion, Koraput by submitting fake high school and sports certificates in 1996.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on Adit Kumar Biswal and Ajit Kumar Biswal of Dhenkanal, official sources said.
In default of payment of fine, they would undergo rigorous imprisonment for three months more each for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) PC Act, 1988/420/471/34 IPC. All the sentences are to run concurrently.
Adit and Ajit, residents of Dhenkanal were arrested and charge-sheeted by vigilance case u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) PC Act, 1988/468/471/420/120-B IPC.
Both had got appointment as sepoy in OSAP 3rd Battalion, Koraput by producing fake certificates. They were removed from service following the vigilance case.
