Puri: Two government employees were arrested for allegedly defrauding people by promising them jobs at Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Puri town.
The two, identified as Kartika Sethi and Batakrushna Bhoi, had allegedly duped three persons of Budhang village under the jurisdiction of Brahmagiri police station in Puri district of Rs four lakh, sources said.
While Kartika belngs to Palli village under Brahmagiri area, Batakrushna is from Nalihana under Puri Sadar area.
Kartika reportedly works in the postal department, while Bhoi is a peon at the Chief District Medical Officer’s (CDMO) office.
The two, who are also facing around eight other cases relating to cheating, had allegedly swindled around Rs 4 lakh from three by promising them jobs at the medical college and hospital. The accused have been booked under Sections 420, 468, 471, 34, 120 (B) of the IPC.
Several other complaints have also been received by the police against the two accused persons which are being examined, the sources added.
