2 Held For Back-To-Back Thefts At Odisha School, Students’ Role Suspected

Baripada: Two persons have been arrested in connection with two back-to-back thefts at a private school at Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. Several stolen items have also been recovered from the two.

Many articles worth lakhs had been stolen from the school located in Sirisbani area of Baripada in two successive theft incidents. It is alleged that several valuables including laptops, cash, music system, TV, and other articles were stolen from the school in two separate incidents recently, sources said.

While conducting investigation into the incidents, police suspected the involvement of some students in the theft and started the probe accordingly.

Following a complaint lodged by the school authorities, the police launched a probe and arrested two accused, identifies as Rohit Pallei and Sk Abidulla. “Several items, including a TV, music system, laptops, and two luxury bikes, have been recovered from their possession. We have also recovered some cash from the duo,” said a senior police official.

Police suspect that the accused persons had involved some students to commit the crime in order to buy motorcycles. Further investigation is in progress.
