Bhubaneswar: A huge quantity of ganja was seized by the polie in Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday when it was being transported in a truck carrying rice bran.
Two peddlers, identified as Pramod Kumar Behera and Prabhat Muduli, were held for illegally transporting the cannabis, weighing over 1.4 quintal.
The Mancheswar police had got intelligence input regarding the trafficking of ganja from Berhampur to Puri in a husk-laden truck. Accordingly, the sleuths in the guise of civilians had beefed up highway patrolling to keep a vigil on the vehicles.
The truck was intercepted on the highway and the contraband recovered from under the husk-filled sacks during search
The two accused persons are being interrogated and further investigation is underway, police added.
