2 Held With Ganja Worth Rs 37 Lakh In Odisha’s Sonepur

Sonepur: Stepping up the crackdown on illegal activities amid the twin elections, police seized over 3.75 quintals of ganja valued at more than Rs 37 lakh and arrested two persons in Odisha’s Sonepur district.

Sources said the seizure was made during a special operation by a team of police personnel. They intercepted a container truck near the Collectorate and seized 3.75 quintals of ganja following search of the vehicle.

Two persons hailing from Madhya Pradesh were also arrested by the police. The cannabis was valued at over Rs 37 lakh.

The cannabis was being smuggled to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh from Kantamal area in Boudh district, the sources said. Further investigation is underway.
