Srinagar: Two soldiers were critically injured on Tuesday in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir.

The incident took place during operational activities in the forward post at Kamalkote in Baramulla district, officials said.

The injured soldiers were given first aid locally before being evacuated and shifted to the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for specialised medical treatment.

Their condition is being closely monitored by Army authorities, India Today reported citing sources.

An investigation has been initiated to ascertain whether the blast was accidental or linked to any other activity near the LoC.

Earlier in the day, a high-level meeting was held in Jammu to review security and administrative preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

Present at the meeting chaired by Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar were Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti, senior officials from various departments and districts.
