Bhubaneswar: Two persons sustained serious injuries after miscreants allegedly attacked them with sharp weapons near Master Canteen in Odisha capital on Monday.
According to police sources, the injured have been admitted to Capital Hospital for treatment. The incident, which took place around 1.30 pm, is suspected to be the fallout of past enmity.
Eyewitnesses said that there was some heated exchange of words between some youths near a roadside shop. Thereafter, 10-12 youths arrived at the shop and suddenly attacked five youths with sharp weapons. While three among them managed to escape with minor injuries, the miscreants chased the other two and attacked them with swords and iron rods.
Locals said one Raja of Mali Sahi had hired goons to attack the youth, who were opposing him over his illegal trade of brown sugar and liquor.
A case has been registered in this connection at Kharavel Nagar police station and a manhunt has begun for Raja, who has absconded.
