2 Injured In Fire After ‘Explosion’ At Book Depot In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Two persons were injured in a fire mishap, suspected to have been triggered by an explosion, at a book depot in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district late on Saturday.

According to police sources, locals informed the police after hearing a loud explosion. Fire brigade from Balikuda soon reached the spot, doused the blaze and rescued two seriously injured persons, who were in an adjoining room. They were first admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Jagatsinghpur and later shifted to a private medical establishments in Bhubaneswar

Books and notebooks stored inside the godown were gutted. The intensity of the explosion was so severe that it caused cracks in the warehouse walls.

The cause of the fire and the explosion was yet to be ascertained, the sources added.
