2 Juveniles Flee Angul Observation Home Through Drain Hole, Manhunt Launched



Angul: Police have launched a manhunt to trace two juvenile offenders, who escaped from the Observation Home in Odisha’s Angul on February 14.

Sources said the duo slipped out through a drain hole in the facility at around 4-5 pm while playing on the premises. One of the escapees hails from Opada area in Bala

sore district, while the other is from Haripur village at Tangi in Cuttack district. One was lodged on rape allegations, while the other was facing charges of theft.

Around 30 juveniles from 10 districts are currently housed in the Angul Observation Home, which serves as a correctional facility for minors facing trial in various cases.


Counsellor of the observation home lodged a complaint at the Angul Town police station on February 15, following a search operation was launched across the district, including railway stations. CCTV footage are also being examined to trace their movement.

Multiple teams have been deployed and all police stations in the district have been alerted, the sources added.
